Prof. Dr. Philipp Adelhelm

Philipp Adelhelm is a materials scientist and received his education at the University of Stuttgart and the Max-Planck-Institute for Metals Research.
After graduation in 2004, he joined the group of Prof. Markus Antonietti at the Max-Planck-Institute of Colloids and Interfaces and worked on carbon materials with tailored porosity.
He received his PhD in physical chemistry in 2007 and worked as a post doc at Utrecht University (de Jongh group) studying sodium and magnesium based hydrogen storage materials.
As a group leader at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (2009-2015, group of Jürgen Janek) he explored the cell chemistry of sodium-based batteries.
From 2015-2019 he was professor at the Institute for Technical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry (ITUC) at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena.
Since 10/2019 he is professor for physical chemistry at Humboldt-University Berlin.
He is co-affiliated with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) by leading a joint research group „operando battery analysis“.
