Unconventional electrode reactions are studied within the ERC Consolidator Grant SEED. Here, solvent molecules are used to tailor the ion storage properties of solid intercalation materials. The concept aims at electrode reactions based on abundant elements with ideally multivalent ions and at the same time small lattice polarization and charge transfer resistance.
